EZ Messenger Vendors- Endorsing Service Documents
Endorse documents, FL, ME, VT, TX, WI papers, initial papers
Below is a current list of state's that require endorsement on documents when serving. This list and rules can change at anytime, please refer to each states Rules of Civil Procedure or judicial website for updates. List is in alphabetical order.
FLORIDA
Per Florida Rules of Civil Procedure- Rule 1.070. (C)
"At the time of personal service of process a copy of the initial pleading shall be delivered to the party upon whom service is made. The date and hour of service shall be endorsed on the original process and all copies of it by the person making the service. The party seeking to effect personal service shall furnish the person making service with the necessary copies. "

MAINE
Per Maine Rules of Civil Procedure- Rule 4. Process
"The officer or other person serving the process shall endorse the date of service upon the copy left with the defendant or other person. Failure to endorse the date of service shall not affect the validity of service. "

TEXAS
Per Texas Rules of Civil Procedure- Rule 106 (a)(1)
"..delivering to the defendant, in person, a true copy of the citation with the date of delivery endorsed thereon with a copy of the petition attached thereto.."
The citation must be endorsed with your (the vendor) initials and date of service in the top right corner of the citation. You may choose to add additional information if you wish.

VERMONT
Per Vermont Rules of Civil Procedure- Rule 4. Process, Return of Service
"The officer or other person serving the process shall indorse the date of service upon the copy left with the defendant or other person. Failure to indorse the date of service shall not affect the validity of service. "

WISCONSIN
Per Wisconsin Rules of Civil Procedure- Rule 801.10 Summons, by whom served
"Endorsement. At the time of service, the person who serves a copy of the summons shall sign the summons and shall indicate thereon the time and date, place and manner of service and upon whom service was made. If the server is a sheriff or deputy sheriff, the server’s official title shall be stated. Failure to make the endorsement shall not invalidate a service but the server shall not collect fees for the service."
