PURPOSE

This process is to review requests for alternative service submitted by vendors for accuracy and approval to submit request to the court or to the client.

PROCEDURE

1) From the FAST Dashboard, select open jobs by queue.

2) Choose queue Alt Service Request Affidavit Received.

3) State/County and work your region.

4) Work the jobs with the closest due dates first.

5) Pull up the scanned Support for Sub Service scan.

6) Review the listed attempts for accuracy and diligence.

A. There must be confirmation of residency:

1. Co Resident confirms subject lives at this address;

2. Neighbor confirms subject lives at this address;

3. Leasing office confirms subject lives at this address; or,

4. If confirmation is only provided by Central Appraisal District and/or License Plate information, assign to Client Team Review-Manager for permission to proceed with Alt Service Request.

B. We must have diligent attempts, spread out over at least 10 days and on differing days of the week:

1. One morning attempt: 06:00AM-10:00AM;

2. One afternoon attempt: 10:01AM-17:59PM;

3. One evening attempt: 18:00PM-22:00PM; and,

4. One weekend attempt (Saturday ONLY for TX)**Weekend attempt DOES NOT count towards a morning, afternoon, or evening attempt**

5. If vendor is told the subject will be home at a certain time during an attempt, make sure vendor has attempt at that specific time.

C. Courts and clients that require 6 attempts for Alt Service:

1. Rathbone requires a minimum of 6 attempts for alt service.

2. Jenkins requires a minimum of 6 attempts for alt service.

3. All Harris county requires a minimum of 6 attempts for alt service.

D. Clients who require notary on alt service:

1. Rathbone- Put 1 in notary box on job page to populate the need for notary. Make sure Defendant name is mentioned in attempt before reassigning back to Vendor to get Alt Service notarized.

E. Click on the W/O button and review any special instructions, client, and court rules. Ensure the vendor has the required attempts to meet the special instructions/rules.

F. If job has FVI flag, make sure that the attempts do not list any information that can help identify an address. If there is identifying information in an attempt: copy and paste that attempt as an internal note and change the identifying information in the attempt event with XXXXX. Names are XXXX , numbers are **** - Internal note should be the same day and time as the attempt that is redacted.

G. Once diligence and confirmation are approved, assign the job to 501 passed review or 106 passed review.

H. If we need the vendor to put in more effort before proceeding with Alt Service Request, enter the new notes on what is required on work order and internalize any previous notes that are not needed. Reassign to vendor to make more attempts or complete what is needed. ***If server is not opted into the zip code notate it in charges and events. Example: Reached out to SERVER NAME to opt back into zip code for an evening attempt to meet due diligence.*** Example notes for work order comments:

1. Please make a morning attempt. Thank you.

2. Please make an afternoon attempt. Thank you.

3. Please make an evening attempt. Thank you.

4. Please make a neighbor attempt. Thank you.

5. Please attach a new SubService Aff in scans. Thank you.
